Ravneet Chadha

Ravneet "Sippy" Chadha, was born and raised in India, where she completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She then went to Toronto, Canada for further studies where she lived for eight years. She moved to Nairobi, Kenya in 1997 where she currently lives with her husband and two children.

Ranveet was in financial services until four years ago when she had a powerful urge to tell her stories through film. She is inspired to make a difference and expand consciousness for a better world. She has written, directed, and produced four films.

Her latest film SUBIRA won nine international awards the first one being at its debut at the Kenya International Film Festival in October 2007, Best Short Film, Amiens Film Festival, France and at Taarifa film festival, Spain just to name a few.  

SUBIRA has also had tremendous success with audiences in Europe. It was screened in Brussels as part of an African film festival and was highly acclaimed as audiences could relate to three aspects of women showed in the film. It has been shown in Italy, France – Cine Cinema Cable T.V as well as U.S.A PB5 T.V.

Ranveet is inspired to make films that expand peoples’ consciousness and help transform the world they live in. Ranveet is currently the writing feature film script for SUBIRA. She is a founder  member of HOT SUN FOUNDATION which is the non-profit trust, that trains youth in the slums in the skills of video filming such as scripting, acting and camerawork. Her current focus is the SUBIRA feature film project, for which she is the writer and director.
